DIPLOMA : PROFICIENCY ENGLISH 1 ( ZEU 1113)
This course is the first part of a two semester program designed for students who have not attained the required proficiency level which enable them tp perform effectively in their academic pursuits at tertiary level.It , therefore, seeks to remedy students’ weaknesses in the use of English and raise their proficiency level by revising major aspects of grammar as well as providing remedial exercises and pratice on vocabulary, grammar and the 4 communicative skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. Students will be trained to be autonomous learners by incorporating strategy training (learning how to learn) in each component of the course.
DIPLOMA : PROFICIENCY ENGLISH 2 ( ZEU 1223)
This is the second of a two semester Proficiency English course which seeks to consolidate and enhance the English Language ability of the students to enable them tp perform effectively in their academic pursuits at tertiary level. there will be meaningful language pratice and integration of the 4 language skills : Listening, Speaking, Reading and writing, through appropriate contexs. Strategy training will still be in corporated in each component to train autonomous learns.


DEGREE : TECHNICAL ENGLISH 1 ( ZES 1133)
The Technical English 1 subject emphasizes on the academic aspect. It prepares student to meet the various demands required of them while on university campus. Strategy training (LHTL)will be incorporated in the course to train autonomous learners. There will still be meaningful practice and the integration of the 4 language skills : Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing – with vocabulary and grammar through appropriate academic contexts.
DEGREE : TECHNICAL ENGLISH 2 ( ZES 1243)
This is a follow-up of the Technical English 1 subject with more emphasis on the academic aspect as well as introducing the occupational components to the students. It prepares students to meet the various demands required of them while completing in the field of their studies and while hunting for a suitable job after graduating. Strategy Training (LHTL) will be incorporated in the course to train autonomous learners. There will still be meaningful practice and the integration of the 4 language skills : Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing – with vocabulary and grammar through appropriate academic & occupational contexts.
